The Real Cost of Acessibility Shortcomings – Are We Exposed?

May 21 @ 10:00 am 11:00 am

Join the Digital Accessibility team for Global Accessibility Awareness Day (May 21, 10:00–11:00 AM on Zoom) and a candid, risk-focused look at digital accessibility in higher education. This session moves beyond theory to examine three real legal cases that reveal how universities are held accountable for inaccessible content, tools, and platforms—even when they didn’t build them.

Through fast-paced case studies and practical insights, we’ll explore where accessibility risks truly sit, how they show up in practice, and what it means for how we operate at USC. Walk away with a clearer understanding of institutional responsibility, potential exposure, and the steps being taken to reduce risk across our digital ecosystem.

This program is open to all eligible individuals. USC operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the university’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. Eligibility is not determined based on race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation or any other prohibited factor.

USC Presenters:

  • Jimmy Thai, ADA Coordinator Technical Remediation
  • Stephanie Steer, Associate Director Digital Accessibility Procurement
  • Stacey M. Hearn, Director Digital Accessibility
