Shared scooters provide a convenient way to travel around the USC community, but improperly parked scooters can create barriers for pedestrians, particularly individuals with disabilities who rely on clear and accessible paths of travel.
USC is aware of concerns regarding scooters obstructing sidewalks and accessible routes in the areas surrounding campus. The University is working with campus partners, the City of Los Angeles, and scooter providers to help address these concerns and promote safe, accessible pathways for everyone.
Encounter a scooter blocking a sidewalk or accessible route?
Scooters located in the City of Los Angeles public right-of-way can be reported directly to the City through MyLA311. Reports help alert the appropriate scooter provider so the obstruction can be addressed.
Submit a report
- App: MyLA311 mobile (Available through the Apple App Store and Google Play)
- Website: MyLA311
- Phone: Dial 3-1-1 or (213) 473-3231
When submitting a report, providing the specific location and a photo can help identify the obstruction.
Park with accessibility in mind
As Trojans, we all play a role in creating a community where everyone can move safely and independently. Living USC’s unifying Values of community, well-being, and accountability can be as simple as being mindful of where you leave your scooter.
When parking a scooter, take a moment to make sure sidewalks, curb ramps, building entrances, crosswalks (including crosswalk indicators), and other accessible routes remain clear. A scooter parked for convenience should never become a barrier for someone else.
Park responsibly. Keep pathways accessible. Help make USC and our surrounding community welcoming for everyone.
