Event organizers are responsible for coordinating and funding accessibility requests for all attendees of any USC affiliated event held on or off campus. Events should be planned with accessibility in mind to minimize the potential for last-minute event changes or additional costs.
Accessibility Statement Requirement
Event registration materials and program advertisements, which include websites, social media, flyers, brochures, letters, public service announcements, or any other methods used to inform the public about an event, must include the following accessibility statement.
For websites, emails, and areas that allow for more verbose text use the full accessibility statement:
“USC is committed to making its events accessible to individuals with disabilities. If you need accommodations in order to participate in this event, you may contact [insert Event Sponsor’s name, phone, and email address]. Individuals requiring accommodations or auxiliary aids such as sign language interpreters/real time captioners and alternative format materials are asked to notify us at least seven days prior to the event. Every reasonable effort will be made to provide accommodations in an effective and timely manner.”
For RSVP’s, social media posts, or areas that have limited space for text use the brief accessibility statement:
“Guests needing accommodations in order to participate in this event, may contact [insert Event Sponsor’s name, phone, and email address].”
*Note: All accommodation requests must be reviewed and reasonable efforts made to secure the requested accommodations or an equivalent alternative.
Special Note Regarding Campus Restrictions as of July 1, 2024
Please note that due to enhanced campus security measures, the university is currently limiting campus entry points. In some cases, limited campus access may increase the distance individuals will need to travel from their point of entry to their destination. Before your visit, we recommend that you review the USC campus map and familiarize yourself with the specific gate entrances for both vehicles and pedestrians. The latest update on entry points can be found on USC.edu in the top banner. For additional information regarding your visit, please make sure to contact [insert Event Coordinator’s name, phone, email].
